HEAVEN ON EARTH Masayuki Akamatsu and Wolf Nkole Helzle at the Reutlingen City Library [ [6.9.-16.11.2024]. Masayuki Akamatsu and Wolf Nkole Helzle got to know and appreciate each other at the Ogaki Biennale in Japan in 2004. Since then, they have been in dialogue both artistically and as friends. In these 20 years, they have had many joint projects and exhibitions, both in Japan and in Germany and Europe. In 1997, I began to take photographic portraits of people. In doing so, I explored the question of how I could imagine being a six-billionth. Of something in an order of magnitude I could not adjust. In the early years, I used a morphing programme to calculate the transitions from one face to the next. The result was projected onto a suitable surface in large format. The work kept evolving and in 2012 I was able to develop software that allowed me to layer all the faces of an event in a highly transparent way. From then on, the result consisted of all individual portraits as well as a collective portrait. more...

With the new series "Digital Painting - Landscapes of the Swabian Alb" I applied for the tender of the Ministry of Science, Research and Art of the State of Baden Württemberg.
