OCEAN

An interactive media installation by Masayuki Akamatsu and Wolf Nkole Helzle

International teamwork: The two media artists Masayuki Akamatsu (Japan) and Wolf Nkole Helzle (Germany) designed a new media artwork together. It deals with the recognition of our individuality in relation to humankind and interacts with the audience.

The interactive media installation ocean_v1 recognizes the visitor's face with a webcam. Once a face is detected, those faces played with 30-60 faces per second from a database of about 15,000 recorded in the last years by Wolf Helzle throughout the world, which have a similar eye relief. The program was programmed by Masayuki Akamatsu with Max / MSP Jitter and runs on PC and Mac
