All in One

Helzles series shows twelve women in an upright position, 60 x 80 cm, supposedly classical busts, larger than life. Landscape Photography alienated her calm features - as they have received a second face. Branches and bark equally fine veins frames her senses.

The face is a privileged place, a measure of human expression par excellence. Anti-portraits belong to the repertoire of artistic creation since modernism. In his series "All-in-One" Helzle operates with the poetics of emptiness. The sitter, so it seems to have lost her face - "defacement" is next to "refacement". In the face of styles and installations, the artist idea is to visualize and to abstract - the search for the face behind the face.
